Little Bug Jewelry

Beautiful handmade fine and fashion jewelry!
A bit from Jane:
"I am a mom to two beautiful daughters, the older of which is my
"little bug", which led to the name of my jewelry line.

Nesting- Sterling silver and turquoise earrings

Blue waters- A turquoise and silver ring

I work with semi-precious and precious gemstones,
genuine swarovski crystals, glass and porcelain beads.
Silver is usually sterling or high quality Bali, Thai or silver plated.

Sun and moon - Carnelian, moonstone and silver earrings

Looped too- hammered, oxidized fine silver and coral ring

On occasion I will use pewter or base metal to allow for lower
pricing while maintaining beauty and style.

My style of late has veered more towards gemstone jewelry and my new love, metalsmithing.

The Gemalicious Temptresses

For your sweet tooth!

If you twitter, you no doubt have tweeted with many interesting and delightful peeps.
It is what makes twitter wonderful....people from all over the world in one stream of rolling chatter, giggles, information, laughter, links, quotes, randomness, seriousness, silliness and on and on.
It was through twitter that I was turned onto 2 of the best treat recipes I've tried.

RECIPE #1
Thanks to mermaidencreations who got me started on a whole cremesicle kick with this first recipe. For days after getting this recipe, I had cremesicle brain. Even made a cremesicle treasury that I blame on mermaiden. lol She is a cremesicle temptress and was kind enough to share this awesome recipe. You will love it, kids will devour it!
Laughs and giggles with mermaiden on twitter
She has a blog too!

Cremesicle rice krispies

3 tablespoons  butter or margarine
4 cups  miniature marshmallows
6 cups  rice krispies
about 1cup white chocolate chips
1tsp+ orange extract

In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Add orange extract and remove from heat.
Add rice krispie cereal and the white chocolate chips Stir until well coated.
Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray.

Alternate here: leave the white chocolate for the end. Dip the cooled and cut treats into melted white chocolate to coat.

RECIPE #2
Thanks to browneyedpea for this totally yummy recipe.
She was kind enough to stop in our Etsy shop and share this recipe.
I was delighted with her witty write up of the recipe.
Be warned: these are irresistible and will disappear in a day or 2 tops.
Also love the cutting, no drop method tip!
Catch Pea on twitter for some lovely tweetness.

Drugstore Cowboy Cookies
(These cookies are simplified from a proper cowboy cookie recipe, and so are "drugstore")

1 cup butter
2 cups (tightly-packed) dark brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten before adding
½ tsp. vanilla

2 cups flour, sifted with:
½ tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt

2 cups rolled oats
1 cup pecans

Cream butter; add brown sugar and mix until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla and combine thoroughly. Add the dry ingredients to the batter in stages and mix thoroughly. Mix the rolled oats and pecans in by hand.

Virtuously resisting the temptation to eat the batter raw, spread it into a 9"x13" cake pan and bake at 325°F for twenty minutes. Allow to cool before slicing. Makes four dozen cookies.

One may also make drop cookies with the batter, but . . . who has the energy—or the patience?
Pea

Enjoy!

Delicious Jewelry Designer Marcie Jane

"I started my business in 2002 during a time of life rebirth and restructure.
Designing offered a release of creativity that nurtured my soul and heart in a very positive way.

Simple Treasures

Sara Jane

Art, design and creativity have always been a part of my life. I used to build mansions for my Troll family and deck them out in handmade outfits and jewelry.
My designs have matured since then and I am excited everyday to study and learn more about the Art of Jewelry Design.

I have a huge love for the outdoors and all its glorious beauty. Though my work is constantly evolving, as am I, my designs will always be nature inspired.
My love of the organic texture, color and elusiveness of natural gemstones inspire me to pair many elements to create a unique jewelry art. The technique of wire wrapping, chromatic selection, design and fine silver fusing/soldiering are incorporated.

Quality and satisfaction are extremely important to me; I go to great lengths to create my art jewelry pieces with quality products and supplies. I search for elements that are rare and unique to create a one of  a kind piece of art. Excellence in my technique is my constant goal."

The handmade business and Valentines cards

The sending of Valentines was a fashion in nineteenth-century Great Britain and in 1847. Esther Howland received an ornate English Valentine from a business associate of her father. She then began to create and market her own brand of Valentines Day greeting cards in the U.S. from her home in Worcester, Mass
Esther's  brother took samples of her cards on a sales trip and came home with an astonishing $5,000 worth of orders.
Esther began hiring her friends to assemble the valentines and within a few years she built her business into a $100,000 a year enterprise, a notable success for any entrepreneur but a truly remarkable accomplishment for a nineteenth-century woman!
Esther Howland sold her business to care for her father in 1881 to George C. Whitney, also of Worcester. The George C. Whitney Co. became the largest valentine factory in the world at that time.

Esther Howland Valentine, circa 1850:
"Weddings now are all the go, Will you marry me or no"
Whitney Valentine, circa 1887
Seascape Valentine, date unknown

Comic Valentine, mid 19th century:
"R stands for rod which can give a smart crack,
and ought to be used for a day on your back."

Vinegar Valentine, Circa 1900

Childrens's Valentine, circa 1940-50

Oops, I did it again!

Another treasury that is!
Inspired by my daughter's lovely Passion Lotus Necklace.
OK this is the last one as I stated in previous post.
Promise. *wink*

Lotus Me

How do you spell addiction?

T-r-e-a-s-u-r-y

Stalking the treasuries and looking at all the wonderful creativeness
on Etsy is getting in the way of doing stuff.
Not terribly important things...just cleaning, cooking and sleeping.

I think I will only make one more treasury then be done with the obsession!
Maybe if I keep repeating "just one more and that's it"
Not very convincing. I sure don't believe it!

Treasuries & groundhogs day

Recently Gemalicious Beads has been included in so many delightful treasuries on Etsy! Very exciting and gosh just plain out flattering!
Etsy treasuries are the madness behind this midnight post.
That and lusting for a groundhogs day treasury.
I got the "treasury bug" with my very first treasury ever! Since then, I stalk the treasury clock on Craftopolis. It's been helpful enough for me to grab 3 treasury spots.
*giggles*...I know some of you are stalking it too!
Here are some of the treasuries we have been in recently.
Many thanks to the curators of these wonderful palettes!

Here is the most recent one I was clever enough to get and curate:

And since it's groundhogs day, this is the treasury I would've made!
Oh and be prepared for 6 more weeks of winter...
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow :(

Yesterday via twitter I was told you can search Craftcult's vault
by shop name to find out if you've been in any treasuries~past and present.
Also you can find Etsy treasury screenshots on Flickr here
Thanks to LemonJitters, lindab142 and debsdesigns401 for feeding my addiction!
Since I am a new addict to treasury lust, was wondering if you would help a lady out? lol
Leave a comment with your best method for nabbing a treasury and
for finding the beautiful items to place within a treasury.
